Maverick's Story...

Name: Maverick
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Age: 5 Years
Gender: Male/Neutered
Weight: Approximately 85 lbs
Location: Sierra Vista
NO: Kids or Cats

Maverick was found as a stray in Tucson by a good samaritan, he was later taken to the Pima County Shelter. Within a few days of living with Maverick we found that he had knew a few commands to include “sit” “kennel” “shake” and “drop”. We are still working on other commands but he does enjoy the attention when doing training. Maverick is house broken and dog door trained.
Maverick needs to be adopted by someone with German Shepherd and/or other working dog experience. Although submissive, Maverick can be pushy and therefore must have an owner capable of working him. I call Maverick our “Velcro dog” as he rather be in the company of his humans than other dogs. He does enjoying playing a little with other dogs but he requires a more intimate time with his human. Although not a high drive GSD, Maverick is smart and keeping his mind stimulated would be ideal. He likes to chase a ball and carry a Kong around while talking too.
Maverick is child tolerant when exposed in short intervals, but nothing more. Families with children under 13 will not be considered when adopting Maverick. His ideal adoptive home would include strong leaders who don’t work long hours (more than typical 8 hours per day). Maverick loves going for walks, rides in cars and being in public. He is friendly with everyone he meets and seems to always have a smile. Maverick is looking for someone he can play with during the day and cuddle with in the evenings. He truly is a loving and affectionate dog in need of the right family.

Maverick is up to date on his vaccines and Microchipped. His adoption fee is $150. If you are interested in meeting Maverick please email Jerry at and request an application.

Adoption process includes application/questionnaire, initial meet and greet, home inspection and 24-48 hour trial sleepover prior to adoption finalization. This process works for both parties to ensure the right fit for both dog and adopting family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maverick, a Sierra Vista German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Sierra Vista, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Sierra Vista.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sierra Vista already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sierra Vista breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sierra Vista paves the way for another one to be saved.
