My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lamar was found after being abandonded with a broken leg. He had surgery and the leg is healed now. Lamar, who is 2 years old and about 60 pounds, is currently being fostered in a rural area of Tennessee. He loves to run and play in the creek and pond at his foster's home. He stays in a 10x10 kennel when his foster family is away and at night. He does come inside and does very well. Typically he checks things out and then lays down close to someone. He lives with a female Shepherd mix and 2 female Pit Bull mixes as his foster siblings. They get along very well. Lamar understands sit, down, come, rollover, wait, and no. He will chase a ball or toy and bring it back (most of the time). He likes to explore his surroundings and comes back when called. He loves his treats and is a very quick learner. He likes to get in a car or truck any time he finds the door open. He is a little excited during the ride, but we are working to improve that. Currently he would not be good with cats. He does have a strong prey drive with regard to chasing small animals that he finds near the creeks or in the woods. Lamar is a happy and engertic soul. He will need a person or family that will spend lots of time with him. He likes to be close and will lay by your side. He also needs LOTS of exercise and mental stimulation. We do not think he would be happy or do well if not given this. He does spend time alone while his foster is at work and at night. He is not bothered by this, but he does also get plenty of exercise and attention. A person that understands and has experience with this type of dog would be best for Lamar, along with a fenced yard to keep him safe. Lamar loves children but we recommend that they be 10 years and older since he is so strong and doesn’t know he can knock them over easily. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.
