Issac's Story...
Hi! My name is Issac. And do I have a story!! I'm a sweet cuddly boy who just wants to love you. I think I am about 8 or 9 years old but can't remember for sure. Unfortunately, my life was rather hard before coming to DREAM. When I saw the vet, they discovered that I have a rectal hernia, signs of early heart disease, enlarged prostate, and a mass in my lungs. It appeared everyone was giving up on me BUT then the wonderful DREAM rescue people saw a spark in my eyes and wouldn't give up on me. I have visited the vet again for another exam and ultra sound because of the mass in my lung. It was just a broken heart with sadness, BECAUSE I HAVE NO MASS IN MY LUNGS!! I am on a daily dose of heart medicine now and doing very well. I am considered a hospice case because my heart got worse lately and my time is limited. I am going to enjoy the time I have left for as long as I have left! As long as I have a little fiber added to my daily meals the rectal hernia isn't a problem for me.

My foster parents tell EVERYONE I am the best most well-adjusted foster EVER!! Hey I knew that. What'€™s not to love? I am a go with the flow kinda boy. I really like the 2 cats and my 4 sister dogs I am staying with. I love to carry squeaky toys around and snuggle with my foster parents on the sofa. I can totally amuse myself and when it is bed time, I want my plush pillow bed and a lovely polar fleece blankie to burrow into. I am good about going outside, but please remember to let me out. I also come to you when you call my name. I don'€™t know what the big deal is (dah... you get a treat when you mind!!) but my foster parents are pretty amazed a doxie comes when called. Guess cause my sisters are pretty stubborn. Girls!

Wouldn't you love to have me come live with you? I have so much affection to give and hopefully someone will adopt me and take care of me in a new forever home.

**If you can't adopt him, please consider donating to DREAM for his care. Thanks!**

If you are interested in adopting Issac, you can fill out an application right at our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Issac 's adoption fee is $275. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Issac will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxies's back.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Issac, a Decatur Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Decatur, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Decatur.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Decatur already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Decatur breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Decatur paves the way for another one to be saved.
