Cinnamon's Story...
Although we are listing Cinnamon on this site, she will not be ready for adoption until some time at the end of February or the beginning of March.

Cinnamon was pulled from a puppy mill raid. She came to us very scared, but lapped up all the loving and attention our quarantine staff are giving her ... when it came time to vet our little girl, we saw that she was pregnant. We are going to allow this beautiful baby to have her litter of puppies and instead of having them in a chicken wire cage stacked on other cages ... she is going to live in a home and have her puppies in luxury.

Once the puppies are weaned we will spay her and she and her puppies will be available for adoption. If you are in the NY area and would like to foster her until she has her puppies, please let us know.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cinnamon, a Shelter Island Foxhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Foxhound for sale in Shelter Island, or seeking a Foxhound dog from a breeder in Shelter Island.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Shelter Island already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Shelter Island breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Foxhound breeders who help with Foxhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Shelter Island paves the way for another one to be saved.
