My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR WELCOMES DOWNEY INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!!

Downey came out of a high intake shelter and we all know what that means.

He gets along well with female dogs here, and gets along fine with other nice male dogs here. Downey is approx. 1 yr. to 18 months, very sweet but a tad nervous when he first meets you, but he warms up quickly when he realizes you will be nice to him.

Downey would make a great running, walking, hiking partner as well. Downey would benefit from a fairly active family.

Downey knows some basic commands, he is very compliant and will do what you ask,
he is wonderful with people and affectionate and loving,
We do think that someone was likely not very nice to Downey at some point because he is more skittish with men, he is not aggressive in any way towards people,
He has a very sweet disposition and temperament.
He would fair better in a more quiet home without a lot of ruckus and overly busy as that unsettles him and makes him nervous.
He is easy to handle however he is a fence jumper so a 6 ft high fence is necessary to contain him
however he gets upset when in a dog kennel but loves his indoor crate which is where he sleeps.

If you would like to make Downey a member of your family please apply at the link below, all dogs currently fostered in Tennessee unless otherwise noted.
