  • Breed: Pit Bull Terrier/Boston Terrier Mix
  • Color: White - With Black
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
10/19/14: Gummy has come a long way in learning to trust and make new friends and is ready to graduate from "rehab" this week! She is a cute funny girl looking for a calmer adult home that will continue her socialization and another doggie friend to play with.5/8/14: Gummy is going through a behavior rehabilitation program to help her learn to trust more people and hopefully acclimate more easily to a home... she is a sweetheart who is cute and playful once she bonds but has remained very nervous of strange people and situations. Stay tuned for updates... she will hopefully be ready for adoption in 6-8 weeks and will be looking for a calmer adult home with another friendly doggie playmate for her to help her feel more comfortable.

Gummy Bear and 8 of her siblings (all staffy/chihuahua! mixes believe it or not!) were living in filthy conditions in a yard in Yonkers and being given away for free on Craig's List when luckily the local shelter stepped in and took them all. She is only 14 months old and was never socialized outside her yard- she is the most terrified of the group and was clinging to the back of her cage in the shelter when we met her, so we knew we had to help her! She will need a special calmer home that will be patient in socializing her and teaching her to trust, and would do well in a home with a friendly social dog to help her feel more comfortable. She is only about 20-25lbs full grown and looks just like a shrunken pit bull:) Please submit an application if you can give her the safe loving home she deserves to make up for a rough start in life....

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.

About Our Rescue Group...

We a small group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing as many homeless dogs as we can and keeping them happy and healthy in foster homes until they are adopted.

Our Adoption Process...

We request that adopters fill out a pre-adoption application either in person at our adoption day or through our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com. This helps us make sure the animal's personality is a good match for your household. Adoption fees vary according to the dog's age, breed, adoptability, and how much we have had to spend in vet bill on them. Adopters sign a contract at the time of adoption, and the animal must come back to us if they do not work out in the home.
