Here is what his foster family had to say about Goldie:
Goldie is such a great dog! He really does spend a lot of time snoozing but is always up to play around. He likes to play fetch, In fact as soon as you get home, the first thing he does is bring you a toy! He gets along great with other dogs, but doesn't necessarily play with them. He loves to roam around outside, you can see him smelling around in search of some scent he has picked up on. He is very respectful of the home, does not chew or get into things he should not. We leave him out all day long and the house is the same and he perfectly happy! He is always excited to see you when you get home. He will wait in a window until you get in the house and he is right there to greet you! He will sleep as long as you in the morning, but the moment he hears your voice or hears you moving around he is right beside the bed, tail-a-wagging just waiting to get a good petting!! As most dogs, he LOVES to go for a walk, the sight of a leash sends him into such excitement it is so cute to see. He is not as excitable and playful as a puppy, but he still likes to clown around!
Goldie is pretty much your typical friendly Labrador. He is obviously a bit depressed at the moment and his energy is lower than one would expect. He is amazing and loves other dogs! We had him around a cat and he was curious but we removed the cat before we really got to see what his reaction would be. It would probably be best that he go to a home without cats as he has never been socialized with them. He is fine with children of all ages and was used to being around children as visitors in his home and playing with the neighbours 10 year old.
He will bark to let you know there is someone at the door but other than that he is pretty quiet in the home. He loves to play with his rope toy and loves his ball (like any Labrador!). He has great manners in the home and is not a mooch for people food. He knows his basic commands such as sit, lay down, go to bed, stay, and come. He is fully house trained and has never had an accident in the home. He does not bolt at the door and walks well on leash. Pretty much he is a well trained, affectionate and quiet companion who is happy to be with his people and does not need attention all the time but when he gets it, he loves it! He is a bit nervous riding in the car and would need more experience with that to be a good travelling companion.
Goldie would fit well into just about any family situation. He would love a home with a backyard but would be fine with someone that is away for a normal working day.
If you think Goldie would fit into your family, please submit an application for consideration.
