My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Anya in VA

Serious health issues and surgeries over the past year have become a permanent issue for Anya's owners and they are no longer able to care for her as needed and give her the exercise and attention she needs. Anya is a healthy 3 year old female DS. (purchased from breeder) She isn't trained in anything specifically just a great family dog with protection instincts. She does have a very high ball drive. Generally fun to play with outside, You can keep her occupied with something to throw. She is quite intelligent and best of all she warms your feet at night. I would say she is crate trained but that is more past tense as she kept figuring out how to get out of her cage no matter what we did so she just stays out now. We have two kids so she is good with children. I either feed her raw food or Bil-Jac, as I have found that other dog foods make her sick. Also, Anya has never been around cats in the home. When she goes outside she chases the squirrels and birds but never tries to catch them. She just runs to run, I think. Usually you can distract her by showing her the ball or even saying, "Where is your ball?" She has a docked tail as when she was born it was kind of funky looking. Also, her ears don't stand up regularly they only go up when she is in her "exercise mode", chasing the ball, tearing up sticks and so on. She does well with other dogs. We have an old Shepherd that she gets bossy with when she hasn't had enough exercise but other than that she is fine.
Anya is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites, and micro-chipped. She is located in VA but NADSR does adopt out nationally. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out our ON-LINE Pre-Adoption application.
