My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

PLEASE CLICK ON "READ MORE ABOUT THIS PET" FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION!

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Jace is a big puppy who is about a year old and 60 pounds--and he is full of all kinds of puppy enthusiasm and curiosity. He is very smart and learns quickly. Jace is likely a mix of Golden Retriever and a short breed such as basset hound or maybe corgi since his tail is docked. He has a big bark that foster mom has heard only once. He could care less about the cats as long as they don't run and he loves his foster-brother Cody. They can run and chase each other for hours outside in the snow. Jace would be a great second dog or he could be happy to be the only dog as long as his humans were home a lot to play with him. One of his favorite activities is chasing rabbits and squirrels in the yard so a fence would be best. Jace is completely house trained and at this point does still need to be be kenneled when not supervised. Jace sleeps on the bed with foster parents and behaves fine all night. Foster mom says that Jace is a very compact, solid guy that would do best with a family that understands that he is not perfect...yet, but he's pretty close!!!.Jace is with a 501c3 rescue. His adoption fee to cover his vet care is $300.00.Jace is neutered, heartworm tested and on prevention, is up to date on shots for parvo, distemper and rabies, has been wormed and he has a HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: REQUIRED

• Status of adopter: 30+

• Previous dog owning experience: Required

• Age of children: 10-12

• Another dog in the home: Another medium to large playful dog strongly preferred unless he is home with his human much of the time

• Cat(s) in the home: does fine with dog-saavy cats

• Fenced yard: If in the city, Physical fence rquired

• Time alone on work days: Jace is too young to be crated for a work day. He will do best with someone home most of the time as he is still a puppy who is learning.
