My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ya know, there have been a lot of Walters in the world: Walter Cronkite, Walter Matthau, Walter Payton, Walt Disney, Walter White, Walt Whitman…… I may not be as famous as they are, but foster mom says I’m every bit as special as all those guys! You see, when I came to Midwest BREW, I had a lot of strikes against me, but now I’m ready for my forever home and my own happily ever after!
I was dropped off at a shelter, and I had intestinal parasites, ear infections, a golf ball size cyst on my head and another one on my tail. I had not been neutered, and had some problems because of that, and I was also heartworm positive! That’s a lot for one little 25 pound guy to handle! But thanks to some great vets, great sponsors, and a great foster home, I am all better! I am one happy little guy now, and remembering how to play and gallop around and snuggle with the best of them!
No one really knows what my life was like in the past, but foster Mom says I am the sweetest little gentleman! I am a little shy, and skittish around sudden noises or new people, but I love curling up next to any of my foster family and getting ear scratches and belly rubs! Mom says I’m not a kisser- you are lucky to get a little lick on the hand, but I do love being near my people.
I had a couple accidents when I first moved in, but quickly learned to go to the door when I had to potty, and I’m doing great now. I’m fine if you need to leave me in my crate, and I sleep there at night without a fuss! I’m ok out of my crate, too- I’m just an easy going kind of guy. I’d be ok as an only dog, or would love a buddy to play and snuggle with.
Don’t leave any food laying around though, because I want it!!!! I want it!!!! I want it!!!!! My favorite thing to do is stand around in the kitchen hoping food will miraculously fall from the ceiling (or the counter top). Hasn’t happened yet, but a guy can dream! I get so excited when it is breakfast and dinner time I do a little dance! Foster mom is teaching me to sit and to wait, but it is so hard when food is involved!
Although I don’t live with any kids, I’ve been around a lot of them, and I get along great- even with the little ones! Told you I was easy going! Foster mom hasn’t introduced me to any cat friends yet, but she says she will soon. Can’t wait to see how that goes!
Other than that, I’d just like to say, take me home! I love my naps, and I love little walks. I get the “zoomies” every once in a while, galloping madly around the house, then jump up on the couch to rest and recover. I do pretty good on a leash, although my nose is always searching for food that miraculously fell from the sky. I hardly ever bark, too- so would be good in an apartment or condo. I just want to be your forever buddy!
