My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our foster dogs live as family members in the foster home until chosen for adoption.

Jasmine is a boxer/hound mix. She is about 35 pounds—the perfect medium size. She was born most likely in February 2013, so she is almost a year old. She has a shy disposition but can be very affectionate when she is comfortable with the people. She is great with dogs of all ages—she loves to share a crate with her foster sister and has played a great adopted mom to a litter of puppies in her foster home. She is house trained and has good manners.

Despite her shyness, Jasmine doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. She has had toddlers crawling all over her and she never even growled. She gets nervous when she meets new people and will at first hide in her crate, but after a few minutes she emerges and eventually she will approach them, if they aren’t too loud. Anyone can win her over though by letting her lick cream cheese off their fingers!

Jasmine was brought to the shelter in August, and it was obvious she had had very few positive interactions with humans. She had scars around her mouth as if she had been duct taped shut. She was underweight and ill, so terrified she wouldn’t even walk on her own. After several months in a foster home she has rediscovered how fun it is to be a dog. She plays constantly with her foster sister and loves to chew her toys. She loves to run and is remarkably quick. She at first was scared of the noise of a bouncing tennis ball but finally she has learned to chase them. She hasn’t quite learned to bring one back though! She just recently has started to ask to snuggle and be petted by her foster mom. She will walk up and put her head in her lap!

Jasmine would love to be in a quieter home with an owner who will continue to work to develop her confidence. Obedience school would be really helpful for her, not because she doesn’t have good manners, but to help expose her to new experiences. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and comes with a Hamilton County dog license with her adoption fee.

You can contact her foster mom, Michelle by emailing her at mishellefrench@gmail.com for more information on how she can become part of your family. Don't forget to complete an adoption application. Please email spdr.app@shelteredpaws.com and ask for the adoption application. When completed, return it by using the same email.
