My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rollie Pollie With All the Trimmins’

Hiya guys and dolls!! Dot here. I’m the newest addition to CEBR and boy have I made an impression on all who encounter me! I’ve got personality plus, with a lot of sass and a splash of spunk. I’m 4 years old and was named Dot because I am all white with a brown dot on my tail…but more importantly. CEBR says that I certainly remind them of a 50’s diner waitress. Dot is perfect for me!

I came from a less than desirable home where I was deprived of the love and attention that I’ve deserved for so long. My home simply didn’t care. As a matter of fact, they gave up another bully about a year ago to CEBR and he was in rough shape when he arrived. They only wished at the time they could have gotten me outta there. Can you believe that on the day my owner turned me over to CEBR they put me in the volunteer’s car and took off my collar and leash? They wanted to save that ratty old collar for another dog someday. I didn’t even get a kiss, a bag with any belongings, or even the collar around my neck. I just got plunked down and sent on my way. Good riddance to those folks! Don’t come a callin’!

When CEBR picked me up I had a raging tail infection – I just got used to the pain because I was dealing with it for years. They have been treating me for this chronically bad condition and it will be fixed in no time. I am up to date on my shots and spayed now too! The owners told CEBR that they never bred me, but CEBR is suspicious and thinks otherwise.

Now that I’ve been getting that love and compassion, I’ve come out of my shell with the personality of a fresh and brassy diner waitress with a side of sugarcoated tenderness. I am still a little timid when it comes to meeting new people. I tend to bark and hide behind my foster parents whenever a new face comes around, but with patience, exposure, and understanding, I’ll be a social butterfly before too long.

I’m still adjusting to life in my foster home and I a little skittish when it comes to new encounters and basic city noises. This becomes a little bit of an obstacle when going for walks. I’m so frightened of noises and the unknown that I haven’t warmed up to going out very much. Every day I get more and more used to the great big outdoor world. When I first arrived at my foster parent’s home, I was scared of everything like that big loud thing in the kitchen. The dishwasher, that’s it!! Now, I’m an old pro. To be honest, I have had a few accidents in the house, but I know that it’s the wrong thing to do. The truth is that the outside world scared me so much right now that I prefer to stay inside, even if that means doing my business indoors. The longer I’m with my foster parents, the better I get with that too!! You have to understand that spending so much time in a crate your whole life can make basic potty training very confusing for a pup like me, but with proper motivation and guidance, I’ll get it in no time.

Like any diner waitress I like to nosh on the goodies in the kitchen, so my waistline shows it. I’m a little pudgy to say the least. However, since I’ve been in my foster parents care, I’ve gotten more exercise and the proper diet with portion control that I’ve needed so I’ve dropped a few pounds. Since I am a little more rotund than the average bulldog, I can do a few unusual tricks!! One of the most amusing, is my ability to sit up vertically on my own and stay there!! Don’t believe me? Well, I’ll prove it to you! I’m also quite a snuggle muffin. Since I’ve never had affection before, I can’t get enough of it now! Be prepared to get lots of kisses and hugs from me, with a side of sass of course.

Since I haven’t been around other dogs for a while (well since my original owners dumped my brother), I’m just not sure how I feel about sharing with others. The dogs that I have met give me a combination of emotions such as excitement, anxiousness, apprehension, playfulness, and nervousness. I’m not saying that I’ll never warm up to other dogs; I just need some more exposure and guidance and before you know it, I’ll be an old pro I’m sure. I also had a horrible tail infection when I came to CEBR, so I’m a little more sensitive than most dogs when it comes to a basic meet and greet. However, when you do get to know me, I make quite the impression!! I’m very sweet and affectionate, so be prepared to get and give lots of hugs and snugs!

I’ve thought about it a lot, and I would have to say that my perfect forever home would be where I could be the center of attention – I deserve it! I also need to be taken out at least three or four times a day, so someone that works from home, has a dog walker lined up, has limited hours, or has flexibility with their schedule would be the perfect forever family for me!! I’m still working on that potty training, ya know? I’ve gotten more and more comfortable with the noises of the city, so either a home in an urban or suburban setting would make me happy!

Well, its time for me to skedaddle. There are so many faces to lick and belly rubs to be had, but not enough time in the day. I’ll be dreaming of my forever home and family, maybe it’ll be you!!

Toodles,

Dot
