Feather's Info...

Feather's Story...
Feather is a bronze wing pionus who loves to sit on your shoulder while you do computer work, get head scritches, and talk nonsense to you. She doesn't like to take food from your hand, but she likes to be petted. Feather likes to wander off her cage when you turn your back, though she'll nap on your shoulder. She knows "step up" consistently, and she will also let you know when she wants to be petted.

She has a slight scissor beak and will need regular beak trims for the rest of her life. Right now she's transitioning from a poor quality seed diet to a healthier diet of pellets and fresh fruits.

Adoption fee: $300

Approximate hatch date: 2000

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Feather, a St. Louis Pionus was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pionus for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Pionus from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pionus breeders who help with Pionus rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
