Yogi's Story...
Hi, my name is Yogi and I'm a 55 lb. teddy bear of a dog who is sweet and timid. I am a very low key, gentle, 3 year old who acts more like a cat than a dog. My foster mom says I'm the easiest foster dog she's ever had, and she suspects I spent my life tethered outside since I am happy to hang out on the back porch quietly watching the birds and squirrels all day. I am completely housetrained, crate trained and quiet as a mouse. I don’t jump, bark, or chew on anything but my chew toys. I am shy around men, so I need to be in a home where a woman will be my caregiver. Sometimes I walk over to the men in my foster home, give them a sniff, and let them pat my head, but I prefer to do the approaching or I’ll back away. I love having another dog around, as I rely on other dogs to assure me that the people of the house are gentle and kind. I’m the perfect dog if you’re looking for a friend for the dog you already have (but you don’t want to add much commotion to your quiet life). I love long walks and trips to the dog park, though that is not a requirement. I’m a happy, mellow guy at home. My ideal home will be some place calm and quiet where I can follow my person from room to room and plop myself down on the floor beside you. What about you? Do you need a tender fella like me in your life?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Yogi, a Baton Rouge Border Collie/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Labrador Retriever for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Border Collie/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Border Collie/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
