My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blossom

(Our reporter sat down tonight to interview Miss Blossom, a beautiful cat currently in foster care. )

Q. Blossom, can you tell us how you found yourself in foster care?

A. Well, I must confess that I am a little confused about the details. I do know that I had a litter of sweet little kittens, but they are all grown now and living their own lives. One day I just found myself here at this house, and I enjoy every day I’m here.

Q. So you have no real memory of your life up to this point?

A. No, I really don’t. I must have been with some humans, though, because I really like people and enjoy being around them. I think people are wonderful!

Q. What do you like to do with your time?

A. Well, I’m going to toot my own horn here! I am the best lap cat in Huntsville, seriously. My foster parents have a fair amount of experience taking in cats, and even they have remarked how easily I adjusted to their home and their lifestyle.I have my own little guest room where I can retreat if I get overwhelmed, which I really appreciated the first week or two. But now I stay out with the people as much as I can.

Q. So is it just you and the humans?

A. Oh no. There are five other cats here, and I’m slowly getting to know them. Some are a little standoffish –they just don’t want to be bothered, so I don’t bother them. A couple of them are beginning to warm up to me and we’ve touched noses without hissing. It just takes time. But there are also three dogs. Now I have to say, I’m not a dog lover, but I’m not a hater either. I allow them to come close and sniff me – that’s what dogs do – but if they get a little too close or noisy, I just whop them once or twice on the nose and we’re done. No hard feelings either way.The other day some little girls came to the house, and I really enjoyed sitting with them and letting them pet me.

Q. So how’s your health?

A. I am in perfect health, thanks! I recently saw the doc for all my vaccinations and a checkup, and got a clean bill of health. I like to eat wet and dry food, so I’m easy to please. I just LOVE those “Temptations” treats!

Q. Anything else you can tell us?

A. Well, I realize that even though I’m very content here, it’s just a temporary home for me. I am really eager to find my forever home and get settled in. I think I would do well just about anywhere – I like people, I get along with children, cats and dogs. But my favorite place to be would be a home where someone will really enjoy my company and let me be close to them a lot. I like sitting in a lap or close by, and I like to be where I can watch the action in the kitchen. I’m very calm and peaceful and I think I’d be happy just about anywhere that’s not too crazy.

She is a quick learner and easily adapts to new situations.

Blossom is so sweet. She emerged from the foster “cat room” on her own, seeking out human company, and snuggled immediately with the first human she found. She is not terribly concerned about the other cats or those icky dogs. She has allowed the resident cats to approach her without getting terribly worked up about it. She also let the dogs know when they got too close, but she is not aggressive.

She has clearly been someone’s lap cat – she’s been handled by people a lot and loves to be petted and snuggled. She bumps her head up under your chin when petted and scratched gently.

Blossom is litter box trained and eats both dry and wet cat food. She likes to observe all the activities of the household, and after only three days at her foster home, she has decided that she really likes sitting on the cat tree where she can keep an eye on everyone!

She is a beautiful, nearly pure white cat with soft fur and sky-blue eyes. There are some very faint ashy grey markings on her head, probably a legacy from a Siamese ancestor. The very tip of her tail has the same dusting of grey, but otherwise she’s solid white.

Blossom will be a superb house kitty and a great lap cat. If you'd like to meet her, please complete an application at www.FORrescue.net (click on resources) and emal info@FORrescue.net to learn more! Blossom is fostered in Huntsville, AL.
