Facts about Edison

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tan Or Fawn Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: Foster: Nicole
  • Hair: Short
Approx. birthdate: March 2013. Edison is a buff orange tiger domestic short hair male cat with copper eyes and a curious personality. Edison was born outside to a semi-feral mom along with his brothers Jefferson and Madison, who have already been adopted.

At 7 months old, Edison is a big boy weighing in at 7+ pounds and growing, and he is a gorgeous cat. Edison has perfect tiger markings and soft white eye liner and could have a career as a movie star kitty.

Edison enjoys being held and loved on, and often lies on his back for belly rubs, and he does not object when his foster mom picks him up and holds him like a baby. Edison has been a house cat since October 2013, and has quickly lost interest in going outdoors. With the exception of briefly peering out the front door, Edison seems to have decided that life as a house cat is the cat's meow!

Edison's days are now spent getting to know his foster mom's older cats, exploring the house, and observing the household activities of tvs blaring, dishes banging and clanging, and the washer, dryer and vacuum cleaner running every day. These days the string game is a favorite activity, and empty cardboard boxes have become a fun place to play. Edison is a smart and obedient kitty and has quickly learned the command 'no', as well as his name.

Edison is looking for a home in which he will be spoiled, loved and showered with attention forever. For more information about adopting Edison, please contact Precious Pets Adoption League right away at 586-405-5741 or 248-721-0721.

About Precious Pets Adoption League

About Our Rescue Group...

Precious Pets Adoption League is a small 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to finding suitable homes for companion animals. We rescue and place animals of all ages. We are unpaid volunteers. Love for animals and your tax-deductible donations keep us going.

We do not have an actual shelter, so our animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We have no limit on how long we hold onto an adoptable animal--we have had dogs and cats that remained in a foster home for more than a year before finally being adopted. We could always use more volunteers willing to foster dog or cats, as there are so many more animals in need.

We believe that homeless and abandoned dogs and cats deserve a second chance at life. Most of the animals we rescue would not have much of a chance if we didn't take them. Many of them came from animal controls that would have put them down or even sold them to research if we hadn't intervened. Still others were found stray or abandoned and would likely have died on the street or wound up at an animal control where they would have little chance of being adopted. Some of the dogs we have taken in were Pit Bulls found stray in Detroit--if we hadn't taken these dogs, they would have faced a bleak future (i.e., certain death at animal control or most shelters, or starvation or worse if left stray on the streets).

We feel it is vital that we cannot turn our backs on companion animals that have been thrown away by people. Right now, animal rescues are needed more than ever, given the state of the economy. Sadly, people are losing their homes, and have to go live where they cannot keep their dogs or sometimes, even their cats. Thus, we will continue to help as many animals as we can.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We hold adoption shows on [most] Saturdays from 11 am - 4 pm at the Sterling Heights Petco, 13701 Lakeside Circle (next to ToysRUs).

The Sterling Heights Petco is South of Hall Road (M-59) and East of Schoenherr Road, off of Lakeside Circle, by Lakeside Mall. For more specific instructions, you may call the Petco directly at (586) 532-8794.

See our homepage for information on periodic special events:

Finally, if you are interested in one of our dogs and cats, we may be able to arrange a private meeting between you and the foster person, depending on the foster person's availability. To arrange a meeting, call us at (586) 405-5741 or (313) 537-9723.

Our Adoption Process...

Meeting our animals:
People interested in one of our animals or who just want to see what cats and dogs we have available, are welcome to come to one of our adoption shows (we show at the Sterling Heights Petco most Saturdays--see the event section for more info.). If you are interested in a particular dog or cat, we recommend that you call us during the week to make sure that this animal will be at the show. We may also be able to arrange a private meeting between you and the animal's foster person on another day or time.

Adoption process:
People interested in adopting one of our animals are asked to fill out a short adoption application. We review the application and decide whether the applicant is a good match for the dog or cat. If we approve the applicant to adopt, we have the applicant read and sign our adoption contract. We generally do 'same day adoptions'--adoption applications are reviewed on the spot and the adoption process is completed all at the same time.

Adoption fees:
Since we do not get a large amount of monetary donations, we depend on the adoption fees to cover veterinary and other costs. Adoption fees may vary from animal to animal depending on breed, costs incurred, etc. The following are the adoption fees generally:

Kittens - $125 ($25 refunded when adopter provides proof of spay/neuter)
Cats - $100
Puppies - $175 - $500 ($25 refunded when adopter provides proof of spay/neuter)
Dogs - $175 - $400
