Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Clara is a 1 year old female Border Collie. Clara is quite stunning looking
as she is a tri-colored smooth coat with one blue eye and a docked tail.
She has quite an athletic build and gait. Clara came to us via the shelter
system from Central California. She had given birth to a litter of puppies
and BCIN was contacted when her puppies were old enough to be placed with
another rescue. Upon entering our program, she was a bit shy, but has
blossomed into a social butterfly, however, she still has retained a bit of
shyness when you first meet her. All it takes are a few soft words and she
melts. She is very affectionate and wants to forge a really close bond with
her person. She can be quite needy and adores having her tummy rubbed and
be showered with affection. Clara is smart as a whip and wants to please.
Her energy level is a bit on the higher side, but she definitely has an off
button. She will thrive with consistent exercise and mental stimulation.
She might also be a good candidate for someone who would like to do some
amateur dog sports. Clara walks well on a leash and knows some basic
obedience. She is crate trained, although still somewhat unsure about car
rides. She is well socialized with the other fosters in our program, male
and female alike. Clara enjoys playing ball and will self entertain. She
also likes to play in her water bowl a bit, so we suspect she may be a bit
of a water baby. Clara has been around cats and her prey drive went right
into motion. Therefore, she can't be placed in a home with cats or with
other pocket pets. Clara is a super cool dog who is typical of her breed.
Whoever adopts her is getting a real gem of a dog.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
