My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chad here. My beloved and belated wife Clarisse and I were left behind at an abandoned house by our family; they moved out and left us with several other big dogs to fend for ourselves. The bigger dogs went after me and left me with a nasty wound on my leg. Someone aware of our situation picked us up and took us to Clayton County Animal Shelter. Our sad story made its way to people who care and we were pulled from the kill shelter.

My infection was so bad and untreated, their experienced transport could barely stand the smell – but she knew we were special. I have now healed and am doing great in my foster home. Unfortunately, I lost Clarisse while she was going through her heartworm treatment. It was too advanced and she was too weak from everything we had been through to fight it. My heart still aches for her, but I’m ready for a new start.

I am about 4-5 years old and heartworm negative. We just recently discovered that I have a heart murmur. The vet said I don’t need any medication at this time and that makes me happy! I know it definitely does not slow me town. I’m all Jack!

I have lived in a few foster homes and have learned a little more confidence in each one. I’ve done great with other dogs and even cats, but am still distrustful of men. My current foster dad is working with me a lot, helping me trust and grow, and mom says things are going incredibly well. I have bonded very well with all of my foster mothers and hope to find a permanent mom soon!

I’m a funny l’il guy who loves to be petted. I also love chasing balls, playing with my foster sister Isis and, yes, hunting a little. I am awesome at loose-leash walking and very well-mannered.

If you are dog-savvy and have the patience to work with me, I will be wonderful dog who will reward you greatly! I’m gentle, sweet and despite having lived in different homes, very trusting and loyal to women. A couple more weeks with my new foster daddy and I may finally be able to say that about men, too.
