Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, there! I’m Dixie and I just landed here in the “heart of the south” rescue. Yeah, I know, I’m a little more Rat than Jack, but you know these people …
I came from a place that was busted for cruelty and hoarding. (Yes, the same one as Sam, Bailey, Sadie, Pebbles, Rocky and Hannah.) I lost several of my friends to malnutrition and neglect, but I made it out alive!
I have been staying in foster care, but my time ran out. I needed to go somewhere … quickly. They had to do some shuffling, but they found a space for me. Not sure how they do this all the time for dogs like me… I just know it takes them a long time to scoop, feed and clean all of us everyday … and they all have jobs …
I am such a sweet, gentle girl; a little skittish with strange new objects (took me awhile to warm up to the camera), but very loving and willing to trust. I have a couple of swollen nipples they are concerned about, so I need to see the vet. I’ve apparently had babies recently, so that may be why. Like Bailey and Sadie, fleas have sadly attributed to some hair loss on my tail and, unfortunately, like Sam, I am heartworm positive.
I will need to go through slow-kill treatments before I will be available for adoption; however, we are open to a foster home for me in which to heal during the time I need to stay calm and let the treatments do their work.
