My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack and Jill went up the hill...where they got busted by the Animal Control Cops! Actually, hard to believe, but these two impossibly cute characters were abandoned in an empty building, left for dead in the harsh weather, only two years old. They were found frightened, cold and hungry, relying on each other's wits to survive. By the time they were found, their wits were badly frayed!

Jack and Jill are most likely siblings; they look very much alike. Shelter staff peg them as Chihuahua mixes, and our educated guess is that there is some unmistakable Miniature Pinscher DNA responsible for the Black and Tan coloring and elongated muzzles.

Initially, Jack and Jill were quite bonded, so the shelter altered them quickly so they could occupy the same crate. We have socialized them with people and other dogs to increase their options for adoption, and both have bonded well with other dogs. They are available as a pair, or individually, to an active adult adopter who has small dog experience. Hopefully, their adopters can resist the urge to turn them into purse accessories!

Jack can be protective of Jill. If adopted together, their person must be patient in troubleshooting some initial machismo that will quickly melt away once Jack trusts. If adopted alone, Jack could easily join a multi-dog household. He is a very sociable little guy, who has good pack manners.

Jack responds well to human touch, but needs time to warm up at his own pace. He will charm the socks off his selected person, but may give strangers the big chill at first. He would do well in a quiet, calm environment, where he can relax and come into his own.

Jack has generally good house manners. He is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should have reasonable expectations of a recently neutered male youngster. Jack loves car rides, and is a congenial traveller. He is tiny enough to ride along anywhere, and can easily fit into the under seat airline approved Sherpa bag.

Jack is in excellent health, and at an ideal weight of 10 pounds. He is neutered and vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella and influenza. He has been de-wormed and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Jack, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com for an adoption application or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more information.
