My story

This dog is being fostered in Dallas, Texas and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or Oklahoma City area.

NAME: Penelope
GENDER: Female
BREED: Chihuahua and Lhasa Apso
AGE: About 2 years
WEIGHT: About 9 lbs.

CHILDREN: Will be great with children

If your family is looking for fun, energy and playfulness in a dog, you will absolutely fall in love with Penelope! This little girl has a terrific personality and brings life and love into your home from day one. If you are looking for a dog to brighten every moment of every day -- this girl is for you. She will greet you at the door every day with a big smile and hang around ready to play and love you!

Penelope has the sweetest personality. She is great with the other dogs and should do fine with other pets in the house too. She enjoys playing with her 4 legged siblings, but can entertain herself too! She LOVES playing with toys. She will bring toys to you all night long, beg you to throw them, and then will scamper off after them. All the time her tail is wagging and she has a huge smile on her face. There is no one happier in the world that this little girl and her toys! She is not a big barker and just as happy-go-lucky as they come.

Penelope loves her people, young, old, whatever! She is happy to be around her family, and wants to spend time with you. As mentioned above, she loves it when you throw her toys for her in a game of catch. After some family fun and exercise, she wants to be curled up on your lap taking a nap with you while you watch TV and relax for the evening. Her foster family has trained her to sleep in her crate at night, but honestly she would much rather be snuggling in your bed with you. So if you like to cuddle at night, Penelope is up for the assignment!

Penelope has a beautiful white wirey (curly) soft coat. Penelope is great with grooming requirements such as baths and nail trims. Neither of which are needed often. She is about 9 pounds. Penelope is potty trained, and we are currently teaching her how to use pee pee pads. She loves treats and will beg for them when you get one out for her!

Penelope had an interesting beginning with CRT. CRT pulled Penelope from a shelter and she was pregnant. A few weeks later, she had adorable puppies. All of her puppies have been adopted and have loving forever homes. Penelope's puppies were so beautiful and unique, that we actually had a DNA test performed on them! The results came back and said the puppies were 1/4 Chihuahua, 1/4 Lhasa Apso and 50% Other! So we think Penelope is where the Lhasa Apso and Chihuahua come from. Penelope is beautiful and you will fall in love with her unique look.

The only thing of note with Penelope physically, is that you may notice that at times she has a slight limp with her left back leg. The doctor said that this is because her left hip either did not form at birth or at some early point in life had it surgically removed. Most likely given her young age, is a deformity. It doesn't seem to bother her or slow her down one bit! Occasionally the slick floors can create a challenge when running through the house (although her foster Mom says their ";normal" dogs have the same issues - LOL). She can maneuver steps just fine. We don't believe this condition will cause any problems for her.

Because of Penelope's outgoing personality, she will do best in an active home with at least one other dog. She can definitely be considered for families with young small children. She would be a wonderful addition for a loving family. Could it be yours?

Penelope is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?
