Raccoon's Story...
Little Raccoon is a very timid ~2 year old mini schnauzer who came to us terrified, filthy and matted and just cowering in the back of his cage frozen in fear. He will need a calmer adult home with another friendly dog to help him feel more comfortable and learn to trust humans. Check back for pics after his makeover! Please submit an application if you are interested.
1/11/14: Meet our newest 11 puppy mill rescues, saved from a life of horror in an Amish Puppymill thanks to No More Tears Rescue-Puppymill Dog Rescue! These 6 girls and 5 boys spent their entire lives neglected physically and emotionally and lived in horrible conditions in wire cages breeding litter after litter to fill pet stores and puppy boutiques across the country. They are in the process of being vetted and groomed thanks to the great staff at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains and will be ready for adoption soon... a few are already eager for human attention but most are very timid and will be looking for calmer adult homes with at least one other friendly dog already in the home to help them finally enjoy life in a real home... email an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com if you are interested in one of these sweeties. They are all adults aged 2-10 years old and will be altered, updated on shots, and have other necessary medical care prior to adoption.
The puppy mill dogs' medical bills are high and a huge strain to our rescue- please consider donating toward their care through our paypal link on our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com. It is worth every penny to see these dogs transform from terrified, matted creatures suffering from ear, skin, and dental infections transform into happy beloved pets:)

Most importantly, please remember to NEVER buy a puppy from any pet store- no matter what they claim all pet store pups come from puppy mills, commercial breeding farms, etc. and by buying a pup you are paying to ensure their parents' will continue to be imprisoned and bred over and over...

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.

Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Raccoon, a Oak Ridge Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Oak Ridge, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Oak Ridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Ridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Ridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Ridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
