My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 61 lbs
Variety: Field
Wilson is, as his foster mom describes him, "tall, black-and-white, and handsome." As you can see from his photos, he has a particularly beautiful face. He is neatly groomed, and his fur is soft and shiny. Just as importantly, Wilson is in very good health. He has no chronic illnesses and does not take any medications. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

Wilson came into rescue because he was attacked by another dog in his household. Now he is anxious around other dogs and is clearly still recovering from the attack. Therefore, it would be best for Wilson to go to a home where he is the only dog. He does live with another Springer right now, and he seems to take comfort in having another dog in the house. However, Wilson quickly becomes anxious if the other dog goes toward Wilson's sleeping area or plays with one of his toys. Although he is getting less anxious about his housemate as each day goes by, at this point it would be easiest for him to be the only dog in his Forever Home.

Wilson loves his people and is very affectionate. He lies beside his family on the sofa or sits beside them and enjoys a reassuring petting. Occasionally he will take a flying leap and land in someone's lap, all sixty-one pounds of him! He then proceeds to loll about, enjoying a cozy snuggle. Wilson also loves to lie in bed with his people. He sleeps soundly all night in his crate, where he feels safe. He also goes into his crate during the day to play with a toy, often a favorite red rubber bone, or just to take a break.

Because Wilson is a young, energetic Springer, he likes to play. He loves to chase and retrieve a ball or a toy, which he will drop neatly at your feet so it can be thrown again and again and again! He also loves a long walk of three or four miles a day.

Wilson is a wonderful companion and would like to be a part of a loving family. He has much love to give, and wants to be sure that he will be safe and loved in his Forever Home.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Wilson.
