My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET JAR JAR BINKS. Known as Jar Jar to his family. This tan & white neutered male dachshund weights 10.25 pounds. Needs a new home due to family situation that does no longer provides him the good life with lots of attention that he deserves.

Cat friendly (but likes to play); tolerates kids (prefers older); dog friendly if properly introduced; frequents off-leash dog parks but is initially very bossy until he settles down. No obedience school training but knows “sit, spin, up, down, outside, away, no, good boy, bad, and go pee/poo.” Also knows “stay” and “come” but not consistently, especially when distracted by a squirrel. Potty trained to go outside through his doggy door; has also used piddle pads but prefers doing his business outside
Faves: Daily massages; lap napping; playing fetch indoors (likes to choose his own toys); hunting for moving objects hidden under blankets; howling with “the pack;” playing chase; dog food served on a platter; sunbathing on the walkway; stalking and bringing down big game stuffed animals.
Pet Peeves: Rainy, wet, cold, and muddy conditions (Yuck!); tall grass; young children; being left behind.

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give him a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
