My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frankie is related to Milo the other little Pug mix that was also posted today. There are also females in this mix that will be coming up for adoption as well. Frankie is a very playful, cuddly, calm and curious little fellow. He is believed to be somewhere between 1 - 2 years old. He loves everyone including people of all ages, and is great with other animals. Small in stature but hardy enough for young children, Frankie would make a wonderful child's companion.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Frank is an incredibly gentle little soul who considers everyone his best friend. He is very easy to please and gives back even more love and affection. He is a happy and healthy boy. Sometimes Frank looks and acts like a puppy, or at least younger than 2, but his casual and gentle demeanour makes him seem older. Other than having higher energy when excited or playing, Frank is usually laying on the couch or sleeping in his crate. Approximately 30 minutes of walking a day in total seems to be the exercise he needs as he is as quiet as a mouse and very relaxed in the house. Even with his gorgeous fluffy coat, Frank sheds only a low to moderate level. I'm sure with regular brushing he will shed even less.

Frank is extremely social and friendly with everyone he has met - men and women. Although we haven't come across any children, I believe Frank would be very gentle and lovely with them. He has shown absolutely no signs of aggression - even when our dog Ray is bugging him to play or when his toys get taken away. He is not shy of anyone and has been equally happy to meet everyone he has come across. He has been very friendly and happy playing with our dog Ray - even when Ray is not being so nice. Additionally, after one trip to the dog park I can honestly say that Frank fits right in to any pack and shows no signs of needing to dominate. He was just as social with their owners too!

Frank goes into his crate when he is left alone and presumably stays quiet and just goes to sleep. He even stays calm when getting let out of his crate upon my return. Although on walks he will stop and stare at the cars passing by, he does not seem fearful at all, only curious. He doesn't, however, like the squeaky sounds of toys and will move away when it makes noise. This is something he will get used to I'm sure. Frank's number one priority is to get his human's attention and get as many belly and back rubs as possible. He isn't too interested in toys or even playing with Ray. Frank is very quiet in the home. He doesn't even bark when there is a knock at the door or if strangers enter.

Although Frank will get quite close when you're eating, he is polite enough to not try and steal food or counter surf. He also has not chewed or gotten into anything he shouldn't. He could easily be left alone without worry. Unless Frank speaks a different language, he does not seem to know basic commands. That being said, he is smart and seems to read body language, as he usually does what he is being told. Frank has been perfectly house trained and does his business as soon as we get outside, about every 4 or 5 hours. He has been sleeping in his crate as well as being left in there when he is home alone (this is more for the sake of my other dog as I believe Frank would be fine loose in the house). He may whine a little at first but soon enough he is fast asleep.

He does not seem to have any experience walking on a leash but he is getting better every day and by no means is it difficult to walk him, it may just take a little longer with his curiosity. Frank has not tried to bolt out the door at any time. He usually sits or stands behind me waiting to see who's coming or going. Frank has no issues with riding in the car.

Frank would fit right in to any home as long as there's humans to give him love and attention! He is still learning how to walk down stairs (he can walk up ok) - so a patient and caring home is a must. I am confident that Frank can be shaped into your ideal pet with love and practice. He has been the calmest and easiest dog we have fostered so far - Frank would do well with someone older, but would also be ok with a younger person or family since he is so gentle.

If you think this little man would be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
