Kiwi's Story...
Kiwi was recently found as a stray. He's 6.1 lbs but needs to gain a few. He has a scar around his neck from something being too tight. He was dehydrated when we got him. He is a little shy with strangers. He warms up fast. But you have to sit for him to come to you. He's definitely been beaten so that explains his shyness. He's ~9 months old. He's a chihuahua. He's scared of dogs but coming a long fast. He's heartworm negative. He had a negative fecal and exam. He is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and flea prevention. He still needs neutered but will be done before he goes home. He loves to cuddle and give kisses. He already prefers to sleep under the covers. Email us at animalhelperneworleans@gmail.com for an application. He's going to make an awesome dog. He just needs some patience in the beginning as he learns how to be a dog.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kiwi, a New Orleans Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in New Orleans, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in New Orleans.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New Orleans already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New Orleans breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New Orleans paves the way for another one to be saved.
