My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Freed from prison and ready to live!

Why, hello there! My name's Mandela, and much like the man I was named after, I spent too much time in prison, but now am forever free and ready to live a long, healthy life! You see, I was born and raised in a puppy mill, but thanks to CEBR I am clean, healthy, and for the first time getting to know how nice humans really are! I am just 6 months old and was lucky to make it out of there at such a young age. I could have ended up in a pet store, or perhaps lived my life in this commercial breeding facility. But not to worry as I’m in a warm, loving home now!

I live with a few furry foster siblings, and boy oh boy do I love them all! Some of them don't seem to like me very much, my foster parents call them kitties and tell me I should stop trying to play with them, but they're so much fun to chase! My other foster siblings look a lot more like me, I love them all so much, I'm learning about this thing my foster mom and dad call "boundaries". I don't know what that means, but they seem to mention it after I jump on their heads and they get grumpy with me. That's ok though! Not much gets me down, I am full of life! Plus, I've gotten to know how cool toys are, so when I need to give my foster brother and sisters a break, I keep myself busy... I still have to work on what is and isn't ok to chew on, so far bones and chew toys seem to be ok, but fingers and pant cuffs don't get as much positive of a reaction. I'm trying hard to remember, sometimes a guy forgets! I keep being told that I'm so cute, no one can possibly get mad at me!

I am told I'm smart, too. I know my name and how to sit! I'm still working on potty training, but who wants to go out in the cold when I have a nice warm house to go in? I do get treats when I go outside, though, and my foster siblings seem to be used to this arrangement, so I guess I can give it a try. ;)
