Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This very handsome boy with the beautiful markings is also quite sick. Jasper is infected with heartworm. Surrendered to the shelter by his family citing financial difficulties, Jasper will indeed take quite a bit of money to put back into good health. (Gosh, it would have been so much cheaper to give him heartworm preventative from the get-go...)
Jasper has just arrived in rescue, so we don't know him well, but he is very calm for one so young. It might be the heartworm talking - or it may just be his nature, but so far he has been a pleasure to have in the house. He likes people, and is a bit submissive with them, does nothing to incite the ire of the resident hounds, eats with finesse (Note that that bowl in the photo has not been picked clean, yet his nose isn't in it.), rides in the car like a dream, and behaved himself so well at his temporary rest stop, that the resident human went out and left him uncrated with unfettered access to the entire house. She came back to find nothing amiss. He had merely switched beds in her absence. Jasper likes toys, and we once saw him walk across the room, pick up a toy, take it back to his bed, curl up with it and go sound to sleep.
We know he sounds too good to be true - and he is. Jasper must be heartworm negative before going to his permanent digs, so you'll have to wait until March-ish to take him home. He'll be worth the wait.
