My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo is a courtesy listing and is not actually a part of our rescue. If you are interested in meeting and potentially adopting Leo you will need to contact her rescuer at: 925-525-5721.

Leo is a handsome young boy, just under a year old now. He and his sister, Chloe, were found running alongside a county road by a Good Samaritan who still has them. He has made sure they are up to date on everything from vaccinations to de-worming. Luckily for Leo and his future family, this Good Samaritan has also trained champion hunting labs and and the following is information about Leo straight from him:

Leo is between 50 - 60 pounds and is on the energetic side and is the more submissive of the two. He will need a firm handler as he is unaware of his size and strength. He loves to kiss and will break from a sitting position. If you bend over he will jump and try to kiss you,

Since Leo does not know his own strength he can be a little pushy. He will settle down upon softly grabbing his jowls and directing him to shape up. He then becomes very controllable and wants to please.

Leo will train for treats!!!! He has been leash and collar conditioned, but needs work on walking on a leash.. He sits and creeps so stay is still a problem. He is a sweetheart as he lies on the floor next to me at the side of my chair after we are done training and waits to be petted.

Since the two were under-weight when found he is very protective of food with other dogs. I move his bowl around also and have had no issues with aggression.

Leo showed no signs of aggressiveness to other dogs through the fenced off play area they have, but it's not known how he would act face-to-face. It is recommended that Leo and Chloe be adopted to separate homes.
