HELP! Buddy is in the animal hospital; he was attacked by coyotes last night when the dogs went out to potty in the back yard before going to bed. Thanks to his Labrador foster brothers, the coyotes dropped him and took off over the fence. He's had drains inserted to remove fluid from the bite wounds along with all the other medical care needed. He has a broken rib, too. So far, the vet bill is over $800. We hope he can come home on Friday. The vet says the next 24 hours will tell if he can or not. Donations are needed and we're very grateful for any amount you can give. We rely solely on donations and the dogs' adoption donations to pay our vet bills. With this poor economy, donations are way, way down. Please, if you can help with any amount, click on the PayPal donate button below. Please keep Buddy in your prayers. Thank you so much!
Update: Buddy may be released from the animal hospital this evening. Waiting for word from the vet staff. Today, he received a laser treatment to close his wounds, reduce inflammation/pain, and stimulate collagen to heal his injuries/skin. The new photo with his camo bandage is from today (Friday 3-21-14). Buddy has at least 1 broken rib.

Buddy is a 2 to 2.5 year old, 13 lb. Maltese-Terrier or Maltese-Shih Tzu mix male. He's a bit chubby & should be around 10-11 lbs when at a healthy weight. This darling little guy is another good dog. Buddy knows the basic commands (come, sit, stay). He's smart, sweet, friendly, gentle, happy, & affectionate. He has a charming/warm personality & an excellent temperament. He's also a favorite of our vet staff & rescue members. Buddy is great with other small & large dogs; he's good friends with Sundance (our Yorki-Poo male). He enjoys playing with other dogs, going for walks, exploring/playing in the back yard & also being with his people. He loves to sit in your lap, be held in your arms & sleep with you. He's a terrific companion & is a great choice for either all adults or families with older children (12 years & up who have small dog experience & know how to properly treat them). He's an escape artist & will run if he gets out. His permanent home must have a very secure 6' fence. He also chases cats. Buddy is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, professionally groomed, had a vet exam & a dental done by our vet. His best match home would be with at least 1 other small, younger K9 (close to his size & age) or with a family who have children to play with him.
Thank you for choosing to adopt & save the life of a homeless dog!
