Meet our resident “smarty pants.” There is no package to tough for him to open, no catnip he can’t find and no toy that is safe while he’s on the job. He loves a challenge, so much so that we’ve even had to change door handles because he figured out how to open our doors. Stash has a sweet side as well. You can find him most days on my desk kneading and sucking on his furry bed. He loves to be a part of everything and needs a home where he can get the attention he craves. Stash is 5 years-old and would be a wonderful partner in crime for someone who wants a best friend. He enjoys riding on our food cart and helping dish out the food, supervising at the sink when we do dishes and of course helping me type this column on the computer. I’m sure there are a million more things he could learn if someone took the time to teach him. This guy is special and if you are looking for a cat with some dog-like tendencies (don’t tell him I said that) call Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary at 239-283-9100. He may even answer the phone…

About Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary

About Our Shelter...

Adopting the unadoptable.
Providing abandoned and unwanted pets a second chance.

Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no kill shelter, housing almost 200 healthy cats and kittens, as well as special needs, FIV and FELV cats. They are housed in rooms not cages; waited on by loving volunteers, have toys, TV’s with cat videos and water fountains.

The goal of the shelter is to not only find them homes, but to provide a wonderful home for the cats while they are in our care.

We hope to someday provide an equally loving environment for dogs and other animals when we have a larger facility.
