My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please welcome Noelle to AZBHR. She is a sweet, easy going 11 yr. old girl who has been through a very traumatic experience. Before she was relinquished to our Rescue, she was attacked by two large dogs and suffered severe injuries to her left front leg. She was only given minimal treatment until she was turned over to AZBHR. She was immediately taken to the special vets at Four Legged Friends, and was hospitalized for several days to be treated for extensive infection. She then had surgery to repair the structural damage that was discovered in her leg.
Noelle continues to recover in her new foster home, and is feeling much better, but has never regained use of her leg. She is undergoing some physical therapy to strength her muscles, and reverse the contractures. The chances of regaining useful function of her leg remains in doubt. However, she is learning to be a normal, happy dog as a three legged girl. She uses the doggy door, meets foster mom with a happy wag of her tail when mom returns home, bounces excitedly when food is prepared, and has even tried to play with one of her foster sisters.

Noelle is a bit dog shy with those she does not know, and will be rather protective of her doggy dish (full or not) and space, but has adjusted well to the other three basset girls in her new home. And they have learned to respect her. She likes to be near her foster mom as much as possible. Other than trips to the vet and physical therapist, she hasn't ventured out into the world yet, but hopes to learn how to ride in a wagon so she can give the doggy park a try. She is fully immunized and has a microchip. She is on long term medication to control pain.

Noelle gets a little better every day, and even though she may never be as good as new, she is hoping to some day find a happy forever home that can accept, care for, and love this precious girl.
