My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Brody is a stunning blue tick coonhound who was found in the Wisconsin woods as a puppy. He is now about two years old and has grown into a dog who is now very tall and 100 pounds! This breed of dogs is highly intelligent and they need a great deal of daily exercise and mental challenge. He really needs a daily runs and he would benefit greatly from spending time tracking in the woods or spending time finding items hidden in a yard. Brody gets bored if he doesn’t get exercise and mental challenge so he requires activities that challenge him mentally due to his intelligence. Brody is a dog with a strong personality and will require an owner who can provide structure and show Brody where his boundaries are. His adopter must be a good leader but not a dominant person and must use only positive training techniques with Brody. He does enjoy playing with other dogs, but he can play too rough with other dogs since they are almost all smaller than he so play should be monitored. Brody gets along with children who are 6 and older who are supervised when with him and know how to live with a large dog. He needs someone who will commit to his exercise needs and help him develop his full potential. Brody obviously needs a fenced yard, preferably 6 feet but 5 feet or more is required. He is house trained, kennel trained and has good indoor manners. He can be a lazy boy in the house and loves to snuggle up to his humans.

He is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. His adoption fee is $300 to cover his vet costs t there is no fee to foster. The fee is to cover his neuter, heartworm test and pill, shots, worming, and HomeAgain microchip. If you are a runner or someone with the facilities to exercise a big dog indoors, please come meet Brody! We will work with you to help Brody become a well mannered, happy canine companion.
