My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Larry, and his Danny, are a pair of bonded Chihuahuas that recently joined our rescue from an overcrowded Animal Control facility. These bosom runnin' buddies were found as strays, skedaddling neck in neck, through the urban jungle.

Larry and Danny appear to be siblings, as the resemblance is uncanny. They have shared the same crate during their shelter stay, and were initially quite dependent on each other. They drew great comfort from each other during the shelter ordeal. Staff guessed Larry and Danny to be 6 years old, but they seem very puppyish, so they could easily be much younger. Our vet's educated guess is 3 to 4. Since they came to us as homeless urchins, of course, we do not have official birth records.

Larry and Danny would be a great addition to an active adult home. A seasoned dog owner, looking to adopted a bonded pair with good chemistry, would be thrilled with these two impossibly cute characters. However, to increase their options, we have socialized Larry and Danny with other dogs...and people...so each could be adopted separately, and enjoy transitioning to a multi-dog home.

Larry is the larger of the two dogs, at 9 pounds. He is a petite guy, small boned, with an atypical Chihuahua look. Larry has tan and white markings, and a broad skull with an elongated muzzle. Larger than Danny, Larry is still a tiny dog, small enough to travel anywhere; he could easily fit into an airline approved Sherpa bag for under seat travel. Larry is a mild mannered boy, slightly less outgoing than his brother. He will back away and avoid confrontation, rather than mix it up with other dogs. He is a good natured boy, who could easily co-exist with cats, or other small house pets.

Larry is generally glad to meet strangers, although he appears shy at first. After a few minutes, he warms to human touch, once he trusts. Larry would be fine with gentle, dog savvy older kids, but toddlers and rambunctious kid play would overwhelm him.

Larry has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident to occur during Larry's transitional process, and should plan to reinforce good potty habits upon his arrival.

Larry is in excellent health and has been neutered. He is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella. He has been microchipped and de-wormed and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
