My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We often wonder what is running through people's minds when they make a decision to commit a horrible act. Such are our thoughts with Caroline...and it's only great luck and a few loving humans who changed her destiny. Caroline was going to be shot the day we found out about her. Caroline's guardian put out a rescue plea when her husband made his threat (Don't you wonder why he wouldn't have brought her to a shelter at least??). Just in time, a compassionate representative of Farfel's reached out and saved Caroline's life. She was brought to be vetted and temperament tested and passed all with flying colors. We did realize through this testing that Caroline would be happiest as an only dog. It's not that she doesn't like other dogs when out and about...but more that she bonds in a big way and enjoys the individualized attention of a single pet family. She also isn't a lover of cats or chickens or maybe she loves them a bit too much...we think it brings out the Terrier in her. Our sense is that Caroline would be so content...and make her family so happy...in a home with an active retired individual or couple. She would be overjoyed by the love and time spent together... and in return would be so loyal and affectionate. Children 12+ who would be gentle and kind to Caroline would work as her family members...but we still really envision her in a adult family away from the frenzy and noise that can come with children. Caroline would thrive on regular exercise with her favorite people. A long hike in the mountains or a brisk walk in the neighborhood would fulfill her need for exercise and mean more bonding time with her family. Caroline is currently safely in a foster home in Oklahoma...being nurtured with love and hugs to assure her she will never be in an unsafe situation again. She is blossoming with this care and nurturing and becoming more confident and affectionate by the day. Caroline, at 2 years old and 24 lbs has that over-the-top adorable look of her breed mix. She is also a perfect size to take along on adventures or active fun in the Colorado mountains. Caroline is yearning for human attention and acceptance and these fun times together will strengthen the bond as well as socializing Caroline to be comfortable in all situations. Caroline (like all dogs) would benefit from positive-reinforcement obedience training to build her confidence and make her the best companion she can be. She already has learned to walk almost perfectly on a leash and is very pleasant to be out and about with. We also feel strongly that Caroline shouldn't be left alone while her people spend long hours at work or other activities.
Caroline is a non-shedding (or very lightly shedding) girl but would not be suggested for those with very severe allergy concerns. With consistent brushing/baths along with great nutrition, Caroline's coat will quickly become healthy and take on the gorgeous golden glow of her breed mix.
This very loving and cuddly girl will be arriving on transport in Denver on 3/8. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional companion.
