Nova's Story...
Nova is a nice friendly hound girl. She's got a steady temperment, and though she can be a little cautious in new situations, she's not skittish or fearful. Her foster says she's sweet but not needy. She likes both men and women, is good with other dogs, unknown around cats. Nova is crate-trained and her housebreaking is coming along. She'll be a great pet once she's had some TLC and training. But she responds well to attention and petting and will settle in to her new life well. Nova is 2 - 3 yrs old and weighs about 45 lbs. Arriving in January.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lexington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lexington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English (Redtick) Coonhound breeders who help with English (Redtick) Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lexington paves the way for another one to be saved.
