My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BRUNO:

A handsome, sweet, 20 month old, 16.5 lb, smooth, red Tweenie Dachshund pup, BRUNO had a breech birth with some loss of oxygen. As a result of this birth defect, BRUNO is a special needs doxie. He needs to think and study things more than other doxies so his forever family will need to take their time with him. BRUNO loves to play like all doxies, but he is very unsure and more cautious than others. He needs to go to a doxie savvy home only, perhaps with a spayed female doxie. In the right family environment, BRUNO has the potential to learn and thrive. We know BRUNO's forever family is out there...could it be yours? Bruno needs a home with a single Mom or Single Dad no kids and a quiet home. Bruno must be crated in his extra large wire crate when guests come over to visit. He is loyal and loving to only his human. He loves to give kisses and snuggles so close. Because of Bruno’s brain injury he does not understand and can be aggressive. He needs time to think things through. He would love a spayed female Doxie to be his friend. Here on the farm he loves to chase and run with Penny Lane and many of the other doxies. Bruno sooooooooooooo wants a home. If you have a SUPER strong DESIRE to love and care for a special needs Dachshund like BRUNO, perhaps so...BRUNO is very loving and is learning to trust and understand but this behavior will take lots of time. Thank you .

OUR CRITERIA (aka the Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give BRUNO a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
