Rita's Story...
Rita is a 2- to 3-year-old female Shepherd mix. She is about 45 pounds. She is very active and energetic and would be happiest in a home where she is someone's running/jogging partner. This girl NEEDS a home that will exercise her! Rita gets along great with other dogs. Her only fault? She'll make a run for it at almost every opportunity (door-dashing, fence-jumping, digging out...), so she cannot be left unsupervised outside. Rita has been waiting for nearly 7 months for the right home to pick her. Would she fit into your family?

Please let us know you saw this dog on Adopt A Pet! All animals are spayed/ neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and have current rabies vaccines. With all adoptions we offer a free vet exam to the vet of your choice in Alachua County. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rita, a Gainesville Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Gainesville, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Gainesville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gainesville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gainesville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gainesville paves the way for another one to be saved.
