My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Eden is about 8 months old and weighs about 9 lbs. She came to us from a shelter in North Carolina with her sister in September. We discovered that Eden has a tiny hole between the two ventricles of her heart. The cardiologist told us that it will most likely stay the same size or might even go away by the time she's a year old. He didn't think it was anything much to worry about. Eden also had another birth defect - she only has one kidney and had an ectopic ureter (the ureter bypassed her bladder)! She had a successful surgery in December and is no longer dribbling urine. Eden is a typical happy puppy who enjoys a good game of tug and dragging your shoes all over the house. She loves to play with other dogs, and enjoys long walks on the beach. Eden can be a little shy initially with dogs and with people, but once she knows you, she is quite outgoing. Eden is not completely housetrained; her bladder is still healing from her surgery. She'll need to go outside frequently, at least at first. She can get carsick on long rides but easily does 1/2-hour trips now; We'd prefer that Eden go to a home with another dog to play with. Her potential adopter should be willing to have her kidney values tested regularly to ensure that her one kidney is working well, and should be aware that she might be more inclined to get urinary tract infections than the typical dog. It takes a special person to adopt a special needs dog. Eden is waiting for her special someone.
