My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

please apply at
www.sadt.info

please read complete bio
email if you have any questions

we will have more info up soon on all the things she loves to do such as running on the beach or a big fenced yard snuggling with her mom she trusts and being a best buddy to her mom

Rayna is located in SF which is way way too busy for her so she's stressed
Will be transported to SAC or Redding areas for right and approved family

here's a quick story and info

We are only looking for a country home preferable with a woman only that wants a companion and best buddy
if a hubby at home that's fine not tons of foot traffic on a daily basis would make her very happy

Rayne arrived to us from Merced, hopped out of the van and was all tail wags and belly rubs with both myself and tall male drivers

She gets scared of new people when stressed
that's why a country home is best for her less stress with less strangers

Fosters are able to have people over and within 30 mins or so she is laying her in head in laps for pets and loving. their approach for when people come in is to have them ignore her, she is kept with a leash attached but given free access to sniff and check them out with them ignoring her. Once she settles down they take the leash off and in a short time she is fine with them coming and going and getting pets etc. When outside and at events people have been able to approach her and pet her now by kneeling not making direct eye contact and usually starting with touching her back side before approaching her head.
which is the right approach with meeting any new dog anyhow which most people don't know

As for dogs she does well with calmer dogs who don't get excited which makes nervous, her fosters have taken her on a few play dates at the park and she has done well playing and socializing but in a very controlled environment. She is fine with walking along side dogs since day one, she is not leash reactive or outwardly aggressive
Rayna would do very well in a quiet home with another friendly mellower dog

Overall she is a great dog, perfectly crate trained, house trained, trustworthy left alone in the house, quiet, knows all basic commands, walks perfect on leash

Exercise routine now living in a City

Monday-Thursday: She gets walked between 15-30 minutes in the morning. In the afternoons she either plays a 20-30 minute game of fetch or goes on a 30 min walk. She also goes out to use the restroom before bed.

Friday-Sunday- she gets a lot more exercise during these days. I would say between 90-120 minutes of walks/fetch per day.

Overall she is very flexible. On the days when we are very active she has energy and on days when we want to relax she just relaxes in the house. I would say she would be great with a family that likes to be active or one that is less active.

Training: She has been going to the training
Here are some general rules we use with her:
She knows sit
she knows down
we use "break" to release her from a command
we use a firm "no" to correct her
she knows heel (heel- no pulling while walking on leash and stays with her shoulder adjacent to your legs)
She knows kennel
we do not let her jump on furniture
we do not let her jump up on us
we make her sit and sometimes down before she walks through a door
we make her sit/down and wait until we say "break" for food
she knows shake

Rayna is only fearful when she is approached and pet by strangers. She will first back up and give the signs of being uncomfortable and then if they continue to approach she will growl and snap which is totally normal for a fearful dog so unless you live in the country or have experience this would not be the dog for you

Passing people- she is not aggressive towards strangers or dogs as long as they ignore her. She does just fine on walking and passing strangers.

Rayna did very well on a walk with another dog. She does well with dogs that respect her space and are not too energetic. She also does well at training school surrounded by other dogs. She currently does not live with another dog or children.

Raynas Favorite things- she is a huge fan of fetch, she loves to snack, she is very big on belly rubs and petting. She will put her head on your lap and look at you for petting
Most of the time she will either play with her toys or lay down and nap when she is in the house and out of her crate
To nap she will either go into her crate or go to her dog bed.

we have had a few guest and we have been very strict with how we let her approach them. When they first walk in we make her sit and do not allow her to sniff them, we also keep her on leash and very close to us. She does not bark or growl but she is clearly interested in what they are doing. We instruct people to ignore her and not look at her. After about 15-20 minutes we give her a little more freedom on leash and let her get closer to them. She will usually go up and sniff them and we advise them to continue to ignore her. After roughly 40 minutes we let her off leash. At this point she does her usual routine in the house and eventually she puts her head on their lap ready to be pet.

She is easy to train because she is both treat and praise motivated. She is also very smart and respects consistency and leadership.

If you live in the country or outskirts of town looking for such a loving companion without tons of foot traffic and are willing to work with her when she does meet strangers such as your friends and family please apply
She would love a more quiet setting without tons of strangers in her life
Rayna is a very sweet and super loving and loyal girl
With Rayna you will know what you’re getting as we know her very well and will be available with suggestions if need be
If you adopt a dog elsewhere you most likely won’t know all those details about the dog
Since we know and have worked with Rayna so much we know her very well

We only want her in the right home for her sake and the new families sake
So please apply if you feel you have the right quiet environment, home during the day
At least semi active, a fenced yard and some dog experience along with a life time commitment to work through anything the way it should be anyhow

adoption fee, references, fenced yard, pictures of home, someone home during the day
