COURTESY POST

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Hello, my name is Asa and I was born on September 14, 2007. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am told that I am a magnificent big cat. One look into my big green eyes will tell you that I am a gentle giant.

I am a vocal boy at times that is so I can let you know that I need or want something. I think that makes me a great communicator, don’t you agree? Despite my being a big kitty, I do get scared about sudden movements or loud noises, and I am known to run at full speed for cover when I hear the vacuum cleaner, but I am sure you can understand that. Part of my insecurity is probably because I was declawed when I was a little boy, such an unnecessary thing to do to us kitties; it sure makes us feel vulnerable. Because of that, I am not so sure about putting me together with overly active dogs or tough guy kitties, I hope you have understanding for this. I also haven’t been around small children, so if there are children in the home, please ask them to treat me gently.

Since 2009 I have been an only cat with dogs. I am currently living with a calm non-threatening standard poodle, and we get along just fine. I am not quite sure how I would get along with other cats at this point in my life. However, before coming to my current human, I enjoyed playing with some of my feline friends, so with proper introductions I might enjoy having the companionship of my kind again.

One of the things I really enjoy, because my human was able to provide this for me, is to spend some time outside occasionally. However, because I was declawed, outside means I would have to be in a protected environment, such as a screened in porch or some other safe enclosure. Ok, I have a confession to make, because I love being outside, I have taken advantage of an open door and slipped out, but the few times this has happened I stayed close to the house and did not venture far away.

Other than that I love the warm morning sun to lie in; I really like to be up in window sills looking out and chatting about birds outside. My favorite is when I am getting attention and I love to sleep on the bed with you. Sometimes I even like to lie right on top of you when you are lying on the couch. But please do respect that I will let you know when to “stop” with the attention. I will give you a clear sign which I know you will come to understand and appreciate. After all, I am not a stuffed animal.

Oh, most importantly, let me assure you that I am not being given up to another home because I misbehave or am not loving toward my humans, but my current human has encountered a sad situation that prevents him from keeping me; otherwise, he would never give me up.

So, do you have a space in your home and heart where I can just be me, to do my simple cat things, like stretching out to show you how long and fluffy I am, giving and receiving some loving, sleeping, eating, and using my litterbox? I really don’t need much else in life except your love and tender understanding that although I may be big in size, it is just room to hold my big love for you.

For more information on this lovely boy, please call Frauke at 925-784-8244 or email her at 4theloveofallcats@gmail.com if you have questions, or send an Adoption Application.

Please note that Asa is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his owner in Livermore while Purebreds Plus places him in his new home. Adoption fee applies.
