My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Everyday we see pleas for help on Facebook, but one look at Tilly’s picture and Even Chance knew something had to be done.
Since Even Chance doesn’t have legal authority to seize a dog, we immediately contacted St. Louis County Animal Care and Control. Tilly was seized on the 25th hour following the legally required 24 hour wait period, when posting notice. Without even knowing the extent of the medical issues EC placed their name on the poor girl they’d seen in desperate need of help. We knew that we needed to get her into a foster home as soon as possible because a shelter environment isn’t conducive to healing cases such as Tilly’s. She was going to need multiple vets and specialists immediately. Tilly was going to get the best shot at a new life no matter the cost because sometimes you just have to put your heart on the line and your faith in fundraising. As soon as we were given clearance, EC collected Tilly from the shelter, and so began Matilda’s journey to a new and better life. The initial guess was that Tilly had a bad case of mange that would need treatment. The truth was worse, her condition was simply caused by neglect. She’d been overbred, undernourished and was full of worms and fleas. Not to mention that her skin, ears and body were riddled with yeast and staff infection. We are happy to report that with the help of both our vets and a doggy dermatologist, lots of meds, good food and love Tilly is on her way to a new and better life. Like you might expect Tilly is so grateful to be in a place where people care and make sure her basic needs are met. For that she is forever grateful. She melts into everyone and her eyes carry a soulful thankfulness that touches all those who meet her. Currently Tilly is thriving in her foster home. Her foster family consists of a Chihuahua, a Min-Pin, a Weimaraner and a husky mix. She gets along with all dogs and people wonderfully. Please email us at info@evenchance.org if you are interested in offering Tilly a forever home.
