Born Again Pit Bull Rescue regularly works with the wonderful people at the Del Norte County Animal Control located out in rural Crescent City, CA (a tiny coastal city on the OR/CA border). They have a very small shelter with small indoor 3x6 kennel runs, low foot traffic, odd adoption viewing hours and it rains a lot which means the dogs can’t come outside and play.

We want you to see some really great dogs that they have in their care--it's just a 5-hour drive from Portland to adopt your new BFF! *

Del Norte County Animal Control is located in Crescent City, CA. They are open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.

Address: 2650 Washington Blvd - Crescent City, CA 95531

Shelter phone: (707) 464-7235

Meet Mary Anne! This sweet lady is one of kind, always happy and ready to play! Mary Anne is a young pit bull type dog mix who's currently located at Del Norte County Animal Control in Crescent City, CA.

Mary Anne loves to play with her doggie friends, roll around in the grass, chase a ball, and go on walks. She's a medium size girl, a bit on the thin side, the shelter can be stressful for some dogs, and Mary won't mind a few good meals and treats to get her back to normal size in her new home! Mary Anne is a little on thy shy side, especially in new situations, so she will need plenty of time to acclimate to her new home, and a family who will understand that it takes a few weeks to get used to a new living arrangement. But when she is comfortable, this girl is nothing short of fun loving and happy--all day, every day!!

Mary Anne will need some more training, she doesn't seem to have had much in her past, but after she's acclimated to her new home, with a few good treats she should learn in no time! The time will be well worth it because Mary Anne is well worth it!!

About Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR)

About Our Rescue Group...

"Our mission"

Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR) strives to improve the lives of Pit Bull Terriers, advocating for these animals who cannot speak for themselves.

"Who we are"

BAPBR is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization located in Portland, Oregon. We are a family of volunteers dedicated to helping local Pit Bull Terriers and their guardians.

We are funded solely, and supported by, the generosity of individuals and corporations in our community. All of our dogs are located in approved foster homes around the Portland/Vancouver metro area. BAPBR does not have a physical building and does not have set hours of operation.

"What we do"

*We partner with crowded animal welfare agencies to create much needed kennel space for incoming dogs by transferring primarily Pit Bull Terriers out of those facilities and into our foster program

*We network with local shelters to raise awareness about the number of Pit Bull Terriers who are in need of homes

*We set our dogs and their new guardians up for success, matching families with the right canine companion to enjoy a shared lifestyle

*We support our adopters for life by providing on-going support, training, and resources

*We combat pet overpopulation and provide financial assistance for spay/neuter services to local pet guardians through our “Snip Your Pit” (SYP) Program

*We strive to eliminate breed discriminatory legislation and unfair prejudices created through misinformation

*We advocate responsible pet guardianship across all dog breeds in the community, recognizing that it is the only way we will attain equality and compassion for all dogs

*We give back to the community by helping other non-profit organizations achieve their goals

*We educate the public about Pit Bull Terriers in order to change current perceptions

*We support local guardians of Pit Bull Terriers by providing a variety of services to help them care for their beloved pets

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our dogs are located in approved foster homes around the Portland/Vancouver metro area and sometimes the Salem metro area.

Please note, we are a strictly volunteer-run organization with no paid staff or employees and we do not have a physical building. This means we have full-time jobs with families and dogs of our own to care for. We always aim to respond in a timely manner, but there may sometimes be delays. Please give us at least 48 hours to respond to your emails and inquires.

Our Adoption Process...

Please keep in mind that BAPBR is a relationship-oriented rescue with a deep commitment to supporting our dogs before, during and after the adoption process. Due to the level of support we give our dogs and adopters, normally we do not adopt outside our local Portland/Vancouver area.

Dogs that are "Courtesy Listings" will vary, as they are not BAPBR dogs and sometimes do not have a location restriction.
