Lexie is an absolute love from what I am told. She will nuzzle in for head rubs and is what we consider a velcro dog. She wants to be near her human. She will follow them to the end of the earth. You can bet that this little girl will be a great cuddler. When the kennel workers are cleaning, not only will she sit at the very front of her kennel for eye contact, but she will wag her tail so hard back and forth that her bum will sway back and forth. She exudes happiness and she is a dog that is just happy to be alive. Certain dogs *know* when they have been saved, she would be one of them. She appears to know some basic commands like sit and lay down. She is food motivated, therefore continuing with her training will be easy. She would be a nice family pet for almost anyone. Just an all around sweetheart.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
