My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The rescuer was intrigued by George’s picture on the County’s euthanasia list. He is speculated to be less than a year old and a Jack Russell terrier mix, but he’s a little bigger than a Jack Russell, and weighs about 35/40 pounds.

What a great face and brown eyes he has! The only name that came to mind was Gorgeous George! He was reluctant to come up to the front of the kennel to meet his rescuer and it was a struggle to get a leash on him to get him home. He needed time alone to get adjusted to his new foster home. He spent the afternoon pacing and hiding. Within 12 hours, he came up to his rescuer who was sitting on the couch and sniffed her hand. Soon he crawled onto her lap and was snuggling with her.

Unknown at the time, George was very sick. Within 2 days he wouldn't eat and was coughing and lethargic. The next day he went into the vet's and was diagnosed with pneumonia. The vet gave him 30/70% odds of surviving, but he did! He came back to his rescuer’s home 3 days later and has been thriving!

He loves Milk Bone cookies in the morning while his foster reads the paper. He patiently waits for his dinner in the evening and eats every bit. He loves to cuddle, loves to sleep on the bed with you and will gaze at you hoping just for a look back. When you make eye contact, his tail wags so gratefully. He gets along fabulously with the 6 other dogs in the foster home and has shown some curiosity about the cat but they have kept their distance. He loves to romp and play - chases toys when tossed and is one of the happiest dogs ever.

His tricolor coat is beautiful…very whiskered around the face and he has sort of a scruff/mane at his neck. He's long-legged and although medium sized, is very lithe and fast. He is learning his house training with great success. He's neutered and up to date on all shots.
