Rocky's Story...
Rocky is almost 5 years old is a purebred Rottweiler with papers. His family moved overseas and could not take him with them. He has been through basic obedience and is very good with his sit, stay, down, heal and pays attention to His handler. He is great on the leash. He is very sweet and likes to cuddle. He wants to be near his handler most of the time. He’s very puppy like with a lot of curiosity and energy. He would be great for hiking or outdoor activities. His original home was with three little children. He was never aggressive towards any of them however he is a big dog and he has knocked them over before so he was always supervised around the children. In his foster home, he lives harmoniously with two other rottweilers, a male and female. He has been to doggie day care and gets along with all of the dogs; all sizes. We don’t know how he is with cats.
Upon picking Rocky up from his original home, It was obvious that his owners had given Rocky rules boundaries discipline and Rocky had responded very well to them. After Rocky was surrendered to us, he went right into his current foster home. He became very insecure and anxious after losing the only family he ever knew. His foster mom asked one of our dog trainers to come over to help her teach him to relax. He did and Rocky has improved so much. He still has anxiety but as his handler, it would be your job to remind him what to do so that he can relax (we can teach you this). The only lingering flaw is that he resource guards (protects) anything that looks like a toy and if you didn’t know him, it may be a little intimidating. However after a couple of week this behavior will subside with his family. He may still do it with strangers, but once he trusts you, he doesnt mind sharing his things with you. For this reason, living with very young children (with toys laying around) probably isn’t the best home for Rocky.
Rocky has a smile on his face from ear to ear when he meets you and really likes attention. He does not jump on people and he is very polite and will make an excellent new member to your family. Rocky is crate trained. Rocky’s foster mom would be willing to tell you and teach you everything she knows to help your transition! She loves Rocky and wants the best possible outcome for him!
