My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Great Pyrenees/Shepherd Dog
Age: 1 year
Weight: 95 pounds
Good with dogs: depends on dog
Good with cats:Yes
Good with kids: Yes
Energy Level: Low

Meet Gunther. He is a big lovable guy. He is only a year old and weighs 95 pounds. He is a big fluffy dog and would love to cuddle with you. He likes to follow the humans around and rub or nuzzle you for attention and to get pets. He is learning some commands like sit, lay down and paw. He is food motivated so continuing his training should be easy. He is easy going and you may pull his ears or tail and not get a reaction. This makes him a great candidate for a family with kids. He is a big guy so maybe not little kids. A single or couple would be great too. He needs to be introduced to other dogs to find out if they get along. A cat would be a good buddy for him. He is a low energy kind of dog so being with his humans is when he is happiest. Does Gunther sound like the dog for you?

If you would like to adopt Gunther, please contact Brooke at doubledogbrooke@gmail.com

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
