My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The average time a dog spends in a home in Quebec is two years; yet the average lifespan of a dog is between 10 to 15 years! What happens to the dogs that people no longer want? The lucky ones end up at Animatch, Rosie’s, Kiko or another rescue that will commit to doing what it takes to find them a furever home. However, many find themselves scared and alone in a pound where there is little prospect for adoption. It is a very sad reality. Despite these statistics irresponsible breeders continue to produce puppies for profit. Please think through your decision to add a dog to your family but certainly if you decide to get a dog, ADOPT. Until all rescues and shelters sit empty, we need to support adoption as the only option.

Sonic is one of five male, Shih Tzu, puppies who were transferred from AMR; they were given up by a backyard breeder. Is it coincidence that they are all males? Females have more value to people who breed for profit; they are the ones doing the work and producing litters which in turn translates into cash. Regardless, Animatch’s mission is to find these puppies good homes; they will all be sterilized so that they will never be part of the pet overpopulation problem. Sonic and his brothers need homes where there is someone home during the day. As you will note, Sonic has not yet had his appointment with the groomer but this is what many of these pups look like before they are sold. Sonic will also undergo surgery for his cherry eye. Would you like to make a difference in a young dog’s life? Please consider adopting Sonic or one of his brothers.
