I’m a tiny, very shy 9 year old Chihuahua.  I weigh 6.8 pounds.  I came to NR2R when a relative contacted us that I was tied to their front porch when the in-laws went to a nursing home.  How sad that a beloved pet would be treated with such indignity.  I’m thankful to now be at NR2R.   I’ve now been spayed, heartworm tested (negative), vaccinated, given a dental, and dewormed.  I must have lived in a really quiet home because I’m not used to all the sights and sounds of the rescue.  Diana decided to take me home for a while to make me  more comfortable and I go to the rescue once or twice a week to help me get used to that environment as well.  I’m very shy, but will bond quickly and hard to whoever is caring for me.  I stick like glue to Diana.  I get along with other dogs and don’t mind cats.  I’m not the playful type.  I enjoy lap and quiet time, so ideally a home with an older person would be wonderful.  NR2R doesn’t know and can’t guarantee that I’m housetrained and my adopter would need to understand that housetraining takes time, patience, trust, and consistency.  Because I’m so tiny, I’m never to be left outside alone, ever!   As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended.  Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply.   If you’d like to bring me into your heart and home, I promise to give you many years of love, companionship, and loyalty.

(FREE MICROCHIP IMPLANT and LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP NOW INCLUDED WITH ALL ADOPTIONS)   Enrollment of chip REQUIRED at time of adoption – cost $10.99 – enrollment to be done over the phone before the dog leaves the facility.  $10.99 equals LIFETIME enrollment.
