About Our Shelter...
Hope for Cats, Inc. is a completely volunteer-run, nonprofit organization whose mission is to shelter, nurture, and socialize homeless and abandoned cats in a loving, home-like environment until they can be adopted to their forever home. Jake's Place, our cat shelter and adoption center has a daily schedule of dedicated volunteers who feed the cats, clean the shelter, and conduct health checks of every cat in order to keep them healthy and happy. We have seen amazing transformations among the cats in our care -- time, patience, and lots of love have changed many a frightened, even feral-like cat to an affectionate, trusting, happy cat ready to be safely adopted to their forever home.
Come Meet Our Pets...
For now, visits to Jake's Place are by appointment-only after a telephone screening process. Hope for Cats, Inc. does do occasional shows at local pet stores and these will be announced in our newsletter, "Marshmallow's Mewsings", and on our Web site at www.hopeforcatsinc.com.
Our Adoption Process...
The Hope for Cats, Inc. adoption fee is $80.00 and includes a 2-fur-1 opportunity. The Hope for Cats, Inc. Senior Cats for Seniors program adopts older cats to seniors at a reduced rate. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, Combo-tested, vaccinated, and treated for worms, fleas, and ear mites prior to coming to the shelter. Potential adopters complete an Adoption Application which is reviewed by HFC volunteers. Adopters sign an Adoption Contract in which they agree to keep the cat indoors, to not declaw, and to return the cat to HFC should the adoption not work out (lifetime return guarantee).
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Hope for Cats, Inc. administers Jake's Place, a no-kill, no-cages cat shelter and adoption center serving the Buffalo, NY metropolitan area and its suburbs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kringle, a North Boston Domestic Mediumhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Mediumhair for sale in North Boston, or seeking a Domestic Mediumhair cat from a breeder in North Boston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Boston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Boston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Mediumhair breeders who help with Domestic Mediumhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Boston paves the way for another one to be saved.
